Happy Creating in 2026

This Christmas, I allowed myself to pause. I stepped away from curating elements and gave my attention back to creating, simply for myself. I noticed how easily I can become overstimulated when researching collections, surrounded by endless imagery and ideas, and how necessary it is for me to turn inward instead. To sit with my thoughts, my emotions, and what I truly feel ready to express.
That time felt calm, nourishing, and quietly productive. I’m sharing a few images from those days below, created without pressure or expectation. As we step into a new year, I want to wish you all a happy and creative 2026. My intention for my artwork moving forward is to keep listening inward, to create from my own voice, shaped by emotion, experience, and life as it unfolds. I'm curious about your creative new year resolutions. Please feel free to comment underneath.
✦ Quick Tips: Feeling Stuck?
Clip an Image to a Shape, a technique I frequently go to and lately used in my 'Wild Souls' Series.
Step 1: Choose an image you love
Start with a photograph or artwork that already draws you in. This works especially well if you love the image as a whole but aren’t sure how to use it yet.
Step 2: Create or select a shape
Add a simple or interesting shape in Photoshop. This could be geometric, organic, or slightly imperfect—something that feels like it could hold a story.
Step 3: Clip the image to the shape
Place your image above the shape in the Layers panel and create a clipping mask. The image will now sit neatly inside the shape, creating an instant new frame.
Step 4: Adjust the shape to suit the image
Warp the shape, resize it, or subtly distort it until it complements the subject inside. Let the image guide the form rather than forcing it to fit.

Step 5: Begin building the scene
Once you’re happy with the relationship between image and shape, start adding backgrounds, foreground elements, and textures. Work slowly, building in layers.
Step 6: Refine and respond
Adjust opacity, blend modes, and placement as you go. Pay attention to how the piece feels rather than aiming for a fixed outcome.
Step 7: Know when to stop
Stop when the artwork feels balanced and complete—resolved, not overworked. Trust that instinct.

Retro Circles and Between Worlds are two mixed-media collage series created within the constraints of a circular form. Working inside this boundary pushed my creativity in unexpected and exciting directions, allowing the compositions to evolve in ways they otherwise might not have. I especially love how the added graphic elements bring a sense of rhythm and structure to each piece.
These works were created with contemporary interiors in mind, thoughtfully exploring a range of colour palettes so they can sit comfortably across different spaces and moods.

For those that are not familiar with photoshop and image artistry, I highly recommend Sebastian Michaels' Photo Artistry Course. It's a great way to learn photoshop and to learn how to express yourself through this digital art form.
