I’m very pleased to share that there’s already been interest in future challenges — and this is the first. To keep things open and accessible, you’re welcome to submit either existing work or create something entirely new for this challenge.
The introduction to our platform begins simply, with a challenge that carries its own name: Layered Visions Challenge No.1. The theme is intentionally broad, with the aim of building a gallery of artworks that explore what can be created through layering — visually and conceptually.
Challenge 01 - Layered Visions
The first challenge begins with the title itself. Layered Visions is an open invitation to explore what layering means to you, visually, conceptually, and emotionally. It can take many forms, from constructed worlds and fragmented realities to quiet atmospheres or bold, expressive compositions. Think in layers, not only in technique, but in meaning. What is revealed, what is hidden, and what is brought together.
The Approach
Create a considered, multi-layered artwork that reflects your own visual language, whether surreal, abstract, or grounded in reality. This challenge is aimed at advanced Photoshop users and digital artists who think in layers, combining images, textures, and elements to build cohesive work with depth and atmosphere.
AI can be used as a tool, but the final piece should be thoughtfully constructed rather than fully generated.
Working Method
You are free to use photography, stock images, scanned material, AI elements and digital assets.
Blending, masking, textures, and colour play an important role in shaping mood, depth, and cohesion.
Submissions
If you’d like to take part, please send your artwork to: mariuselsphotoartistry@gmail.com
One entry per artist.
Include your name and the title of your piece.
Add credits (source material) and a short description if you wish (what the piece is about).
One link to your website or social platform for your artwork or portfolio.
Images should be high quality (at 3000px on the longest side).
Deadline for submissions: 31 April
Layered Visions Platform
I’ll be hosting the challenges on Behance, a platform well known for its high-quality display and strong colour representation. Artworks will be presented large and in sequence, appearing one beneath the other in the order they are received.
The aim is to inspire and challenge one another — to push our creative skills and vision, and to bring greater attention to image, photo montage, and collage as a medium, reaching a wider audience along the way.
Our portfolio platform is now live, and you’re warmly invited to explore and follow along here. You can look out for new challenges as they’re released, and watch existing ones grow as submissions come in.

Thank you for your interest in Layered Visions
For those that are not familiar with photoshop and image artistry, I highly recommend Sebastian Michaels' Photo Artistry Course. It's a great way to learn photoshop and to learn how to express yourself through this digital art form.
Please let me know if you have any questions or requests. Thank you for visiting my website.
