The Art of Letting Go

This month, I had a lovely time creating some vintage-style posters featuring expressive ladies and text. I experimented with a mixed media effect, blending watercolor and pencil textures. I also revisited one of my earlier images and reworked parts of it — which, honestly, left me feeling a bit confused. It made me realize that sometimes, it's just as important to know when to leave an image alone, and when to stop pushing it further. Each image feels like a personal journey, and along the way, I often get attached to certain elements — a background, a figure, or a specific composition. That attachment, while natural, can sometimes get in the way of the final outcome. I’ve learned it’s important to give the image (and yourself) some time. Step away, let go of the attachment, and return with fresh eyes to make the choices that truly serve the finished piece. I think, in a way, it’s a reflection of life too — there's a quiet lesson hidden in the process. :)

Fabulous Favourites

Vintage Poster Girls

I had such a great time composing and editing these fabulous Vintage Poster Girls. At first, I wasn’t quite sure how to approach these vibrant, character-filled elements, but I decided to take on the challenge of building something around their personalities and expressions. It was so nice to see these vintage magazine cover-style images come to life, and I’m excited to create even more using models from the Synthetic Model Heads Set No.6 and Gatsby Muses. If you ever find yourself unsure of how to start a project, try focusing on the expression or mood of your model — you might be surprised by how inspiring and rewarding the journey becomes. A little tip: revisit your color adjustments at the very end of your editing process. You might find that lifting, intensifying, or softening a red, yellow, or another accent color can make a surprisingly big impact on your final piece.

Here’s an Update on Some New Additions to My Shop.

The Master's Palette: A collection of overlays and backgrounds inspired by the rich color palettes and timeless style of the old Dutch Masters.

Earth, Water & Fire: The other day, I needed some dust and black speckles for a project and decided to add them to the already existing Earth, Water & Fire collection. You might have noticed that I sometimes add new elements to my existing collections — like the Artist Collections, Elements, and Special Effects. I find this much easier to navigate in my day-to-day creative work, rather than searching through lots of different files for blending tools and special effects. These collections will continue to grow over time, and pricing will occasionally increase as they expand. However, if you've already purchased a collection, you won't need to pay anything extra. Just remember to download and keep the PDF link handy for future additions! I usually announce these updates on my Facebook page and here on my blog. If you ever misplace the PDF link or have trouble accessing it, please don't hesitate to reach out — I’ll be happy to resend it to you.

Moonlight Kids: Keep an eye out for this charming new KAIZEN collection, arriving in my online shop on May 1st!
