Layered Visions and Element Updates

Behance is a platform made available to Adobe users, and one of the things I appreciate most about it is the clarity with which it presents images. There’s something very satisfying about seeing work displayed cleanly on a screen, especially on a larger format.
At the same time, I’ve often felt that there are too few dedicated spaces for digital montage and collage artists. That thought led me to wonder whether others might be interested in joining me on Behance for something a bit more engaging — a series of creative challenges released from time to time.
These challenges are intended to push both thought and process. They are not just about creating something visually appealing, but about exploring ideas, testing techniques, and stretching ourselves as artists.
Layered Visions is aimed at advanced Photoshop users, a space where we can truly push the boundaries of our own artistry. It’s about building considered, layered compositions that go beyond the surface and invite deeper exploration. An advanced Photoshop user is someone who is comfortable working with multiple layers, combining images, textures, and elements into a cohesive composition. This includes an understanding of blending, masking, colour grading, and building depth within an image.

The guidelines for each challenge will be as follows:
"Layered Visions's challenges will be designed for advanced Photoshop users and digital artists who enjoy pushing both their technical skills and artistic expression.
Participants will be encouraged to create thoughtful, layered compositions rather than relying on single, fully generated AI images. AI may be used as a tool, for example to extract elements or assist in the creative process, but the final piece should be a considered artwork built through some or multiple layers, textures, and elements.
Photography, stock imagery, scanned materials, and digital assets can all be combined to form the foundation of the work. Layering, blending techniques, and texture use are strongly encouraged to help build depth and cohesion. Colour grading and the intentional use of colour to shape mood and emotion are also an important part of the process.
Surreal, contemporary, and abstract interpretations are encouraged, with an emphasis on thinking beyond the obvious and exploring more experimental visual ideas. Artists are, of course, encouraged to work in their own style and bring their own visual language and approach to the theme."
If Layered Visions feels like something you’d like to be part of, please let me know in the comments section below. If there’s a good response, I’ll share more information on how to get involved.
Ordinary Angels
Sometimes I feel an urge to create something that expresses a deeper sense of emotion. And as you probably know by now, I’m always drawn to anything with wings.
In this series, I used a few new figures alongside one taken from an earlier conceptual collection. The wings come from my Wings Collection, bringing a sense of quiet ethereal presence to each piece.
I’m still exploring circular framing, and the slight confinement of the circle leads to some interesting compositions. It adds a challenge and keeps the process engaging.
Working with music is also a lovely part of the experience. It naturally shapes the mood and often guides the direction of the piece as it develops.

For those that are not familiar with photoshop and image artistry, I highly recommend Sebastian Michaels' Photo Artistry Course. It's a great way to learn photoshop and to learn how to express yourself through this digital art form.
