I’ve got lots of exciting shop updates to share with you this month! From fresh elements to striking backgrounds and some powerful special effects, I hope you’ll enjoy the variety and find inspiration for your own projects.
Alongside the updates, I want to explore three creative questions that can take your digital art further:
1. Have you expanded your background files with Generative Expand (Beta)?
This tool is brilliant for extending and re-imagining your backgrounds. Here’s how you can make the most of it:
Use Generative Expand to add more space around your main subject.
Create wider panoramic views or extend textures seamlessly.
Experiment with different variations to spark unexpected creative directions.
2. Have you tried the new Harmonization Tool in the Layer menu?
This feature helps you blend your foreground element beautifully with your chosen background. Some tips:
Select your subject layer, then choose Layer → Harmonization.
Match the tones and lighting of your subject with the background for a natural look.
Fine-tune the strength of the effect to keep harmony without losing your subject’s character.
3. Do you know how to bring back detail in special effects?
I love working with special effects, usually elements on black backgrounds set to Screen in the blending menu. Sometimes, though, you lose a bit of detail. Here’s a way to recover it:
Select the black areas in your special effect element, inverse the selection, and expand by 1px to avoid halos.
Add a feather of around 0.5px.
Create a new layer beneath your special effect layer and gently brush in black with a soft brush to restore subtle detail.
Enhance brightness by duplicating the special effect layer if you want a stronger glow.
New Collection in my shop
Here’s an Update on Some Previous Collections.
Just a heads-up that some of my existing collections - Overlay & Textures, Painterly Sky Collection and Special Effect Collection No.2 have been updated with a few new and interesting additions to help make your creative process a little smoother. If you’ve have previously purchased these collections and misplaced the PDF with your download link, no worries at all—just reach out via my website and I’ll happily resend it to your email. Remember these links are not for sharing but only for retreiving lost files or updating your collection with the latest updates.
These are just a few ideas to spark your creativity this month. Whether you’re expanding your backgrounds, harmonizing your subjects, or fine-tuning special effects, each small adjustment can open up new possibilities in your art. I hope you’ll explore these tools alongside the latest shop updates and see where your imagination takes you!
For those that are not familiar with photoshop and image artistry, I highly recommend Sebastian Michaels' Photo Artistry Course. It's a great way to learn photoshop and to learn how to express yourself through this digital art form.
