November Update

I haven’t done any character or portrait transformations in ages — and I forgot how much fun they are! Character transformation is where I take a simple portrait and completely reinvent it — changing facial features, adding fantastical accessories, and blending imaginative elements to create something entirely new and (hopefully!) a little bit magical.

After a bit of a creative slump, it felt wonderful to dive back in. This exercise really got me back into the rhythm of creating again. Below are Dream Maker and Royal Voltage, both of which went through quite a dramatic transformation. I’ve also included the original portrait from my Transformation series for comparison.

Working on these reminded me just how brilliant the Warp and Liquify tools in Photoshop are — perfect for bending reality in the most creative ways. Here’s a quick and friendly reminder of how to use them if you’d like to experiment too:

✦ Quick Tips: Warp & Liquify Tools

🌙 Warp Tool (Edit → Transform → Warp)

  • Great for reshaping or bending elements in subtle or dramatic ways.

  • Drag the grid points or curves to tweak posture, fabric, or accessories.

  • Hold Shift while dragging to keep things neat and controlled.

  • Combine with masks to warp only the parts you want.

  • Perfect for flowing garments, surreal shapes, or giving your character that extra twist of personality.

💫 Liquify Tool (Filter → Liquify)

  • Push, pull, and reshape facial features with painterly precision.

  • Use the Forward Warp Tool (W) to adjust smiles, cheekbones, or jawlines.

  • The Reconstruct Tool is your safety net if you go too far.

  • Lower brush pressure and size for subtle, natural changes.

  • Wonderful for adding emotion, expression, or just a touch of whimsy.

New Collections in my Digital Element Shop

Here are a whole string of newish and brand new collections that you can find in my digital elements shop for creatives.

Here’s an Update on Some Previous Collections.

I’ve recently added more backgrounds to Surreal Backgrounds and quite a few new bits and pieces to My Steampunk Heart. If you’ve previously purchased these collections and have lost the PSD files or download links, please don’t hesitate to contact me through my website — I’ll respond as soon as possible. I kindly ask that you keep these links private, as they’re intended only for customers who’ve purchased the collections and may need to re-download or access updated versions.

For those that are not familiar with photoshop and image artistry, I highly recommend Sebastian Michaels' Photo Artistry Course. It's a great way to learn photoshop and to learn how to express yourself through this digital art form.

Please let me know if you have any questions or requests. Thank you for visiting my website.
